What is allied holistic therapy?

Holistic therapy and holistic medicine is founded on the value of considering the whole system of the human being (the body, the energy, the mind and emotions, and the spirit) when treating disease, illness, and general unwellness. We look at how the different layers of our being may be interacting with one another to perpetuate our discomfort and struggle and find solutions that address imbalance within and among all layers.


At Five Body Wellness, we offer allied holistic therapy, which means we work with a network of medical professionals to deliver the highest quality integrative care. We don't think wellness has to be a decision between eastern and western thought. We believe that finding a happy blend between these two worlds can provide the most effective treatment for some clients.

We pride ourselves in empowering our clients with accessible opportunities to learn natural therapeutic techniques that can be employed in every day life to actively maintain wellness goals.

NANCY COOKE

Trauma Informed Yoga Therapist, Reiki Master, Mental Health Advocate

I started my career as a behavioral therapist, getting certified in applied behavior analysis and functional behavior assessment. My early work with clients was heavily influenced by my yoga therapy education, integrating breathing techniques and somatic practices with ABA.


After a prolonged personal medicine journey that took me all over the world and through all layers of the self, I decided to transition my work to full time yoga therapy.


Today, my professional life has flip-flopped: My yoga therapy work is heavily influenced by my experience in ABA, particularly determining the function of dysfunction in order to create lasting change. As a yoga therapist, I use an Ayurvedic model to identify imbalances and teach evidence-based solutions for reducing suffering and dysfunction naturally. I specialize in yoga therapy for trauma, anxiety, codependency, and domestic violence survivors.

My mission is to create ripples of healing in the suffering of humanity. After many years with one foot in mainstream therapy and one foot in alternative therapy, I'm passionate about sharing a well-balanced middle ground approach to healing and mental health.
